The modern acupuncture mat is an advancement of the former traditional Indian fakir mat.

On the surface of the mat there are a number of flower shaped buttons. These buttons have a few mm high plastic spikes. All together there are more than 6000 spikes on one mat.

This is how the Lotus mat works
We recommend a treatment time of 15 to 30 minutes a few times per day. You lay down slowly on the Lotus mat with your bare back.
During the first 2-3 minutes you can feel the spikes pressing upon the skin, which might be a little displeasing, depending on a person's sensitiveness. The "pain" disappears after only a few minutes, and there will spread some agreeable warmth. The sense of warmth (like a warm sandy beach) increases, which results from improved blood circulation.
(Caution! We recommend not to drive a car shortly after the treatment but have a little rest and drink some water instead!)
